Is The National Park Service Pass Worth The Price?

America The Beautiful Military Lifetime pass

As a photographer, I found myself growing weary of capturing the same old scenes, time and time again. The thrill of discovery was fading, and I yearned for new landscapes to ignite my creativity. That’s when I stumbled upon a game-changer: the National Park Service Veteran Lifetime Pass. As a veteran, I applied and soon held the golden ticket to endless natural wonders in my hands for free. You can also see National Wildlife Preserves with this same pass.

But here’s the best part: you don’t have to be a veteran to unlock these treasures. Teachers, students, first responders, and seniors can also get special passes. Inspired, I expanded my collection with a State Park annual pass and a membership to the local art museum.

One of the nearby state parks even granted me a gate code for after-hours access. This was a dream come true, as I had been longing to capture the Milky Way without the interference of light pollution from the town. The excitement of this new opportunity was palpable.

Beyond the incredible photo ops, these passes have rekindled my love for hiking and the great outdoors. Each hike is a new adventure, a chance to breathe in the beauty of nature and find fresh inspiration.
