Testing my new Samyang lens

I recently purchased a Samyang 14mm F/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Manual Lens for my Canon 5D Mark III. While visiting family in the Pittsburgh area, I decided to try capturing a shot of the Milky Way out in the countryside. Although the results weren’t perfect, the experience taught me a lot, and I was eager to improve. When my new lens arrived, I couldn’t wait to test it out. Unfortunately, the skies were cloudy, but I still took several shots to see what the lens could do.

One of these photos was taken at Lake Louisa State Park around 8:30 PM. Using the 14mm lens at f/2.8 with a 4-second exposure, I was blown away by how much light the lens was able to capture in the pitch-black darkness. Now, I’m even more excited to see what I can achieve with this lens and hope to soon add a large-scale Milky Way photograph to my collection.
